Have you ever heard the phrase “You Are What You Eat”? Well during the last year I decided to prove this for myself.  In this article I’ll share with you what I personally learned from my self-experiment!

Water

Hydration is really important! When you look at articles that discus this they will deny it while challenging you to change your diet and use sun screen. While I do agree that diet and sun screen are very important, I personally do not care about the denial and I will say that the proof is in the pudding. For example, what are some major signs of dehydration? Your skin looses elasticity. Hydrated skin snaps back to normal quickly vs. compromised dehydrated skin returns to normal slowly, also your lips become chapped and dry! High quality H2O helps you to avoid dehydration and detox!

Diet & Nutrition

There are tons of articles claiming the benefits of certain foods but I can give you a few examples of foods that I have actually actually tried on my own regarding skin care!  Blueberries are a personal favorite of mine with their anti-aging properties. I’ve noticed that if I have a consistent diet of them my skin begins to look fresh. Strawberries help your skin to look tighter, in my case the effect has been amplified by an increase in soy protein! Almonds are rich in vitamin E so they hydrate and make your skin glow! Basically eat foods rich in beta-carotene and vitamins C, E, and A can curb the damage caused by free radicals.

Cleansing Daily!

Finding the right skin care products can be quite a challenge! There are advertisements all over the place and I know many of you have your staple products but it’s definitely important to shop around if your not getting the results you hope for! Also be sure to completely wash off make up every single night! Make-up, dirt and oil get trapped in the pores can cause blemishes! I noticed that my friend who do not wear makeup have the best skin! Finally be careful about what products you use in your hair especially if you wear bangs or your hair touches your face! My forehead recently broke out due to a hair spray. I bruise easily so it caused pock marks to appear on my spotless skin! Through all the research on this topic is endless I thought I’d share a couple things that have benefited me! I’d love to know what has been working for you!
