DSC6632-copyDo you want to fry up some Tilapia that will make you desire crave your kitchen? Have no fear Bella’s here! It’s a simple recipe that only takes a few minutes! Here is what you are going to need!

  • Italian Bread Crumbs
  • Corn Meal
  • Tilapia
  • Garlic Power
  • Salt
  • Cold Water
  • A deep fryer and oil OR a cookie sheet and oven (see modification below)

So the first step is really simple! Preheat your oil to 350!

All you need to do is mix 1 part breadcrumbs and 1 part corn meal in a pan or bag along with about 1/2 table spoon of garlic powder and salt to taste.

Got it? Great next step!

Rinse your Tilapia off in COLD water then roll it around in your mixture! Yes! it’s really easy right? Now drop it in your grease. (Be sure not to drop it from too high up, you don’t want it to splash)

Let it fry until it’s golden brown. Remember to stay in the kitchen when you are cooking! That will ensure that it’s cooked just right, and that you can catch any accidents. You can also multi-task there with small projects, maybe it’s cleaning something, preparing another dish… etc.

Golden Brown? The fish is done!

What was the total amount of time taken to cook this? Plus you could have warmed up a couple of sides and cleaned all of the dishes! Killin’ it in the kitchen even with a busy schedule! You better work it!  You can season it a little more to taste!

Healthy Modification:

You can always fry it up in the oven as well using olive oil. Just be sure to turn it mid-way through! This is actually my favorite way of frying fish because the olive oil infuses your food with the flavors around it. The seasoning you chose will better enhance your fish with the help of olive oil!

Can I Use the Left Over Meal?

Last but not least! IF you happen to be homesteading and you have chickens you can give them the left over meal as long as you didn’t make it to spicy or salty! #YUM

I personally wouldn’t consider putting it in the fridge or using it again because you were handling raw seafood in it.
